As a self-confessed caffeine addict, and coffee enthusiast, I love to keep up to date with the latest coffee trends. I often ask for recommendations from fellow coffee lovers and a favourite pastime of mine is reading other food and drink blogs to get fresh insights on new trends, before giving them a try.
Cold brew coffee trends
The best trend of late must be the cold brew coffee. Not only do I prefer the taste and flavour that this style of brewing produces, but it also has some small health benefits.

Cold brew coffee trends – the health benefits
In a recent post, I discussed how cold brew coffee is less acidic than standard brew. For information readers, this is not simply my opinion but a scientific fact. As oils, and other components of the coffee beans, break down differently during cold brewing less acidic matter is produced. Hey, I am no Scientist, and I won’t pretend to be in order to sound smart, but I do know that the acidic levels are lower in a cup of cold brew than a cup of regular brew joe. I may not be the best at explaining it, but I know it’s true! This is a huge bonus for coffee lovers who suffer from acidic reflux (me) and indigestion (me again.)
If you are lucky enough not to suffer from one of the above complaints, there are other health benefits to cold brew coffee trends that may be of interest. Due to the way it is produced (slow and without heat) cold brew coffee is a very different end product compared to a coffee brewed the traditional way. The taste and texture of a cold brew is naturally much smoother and a lot sweeter in comparison to a regular brew coffee. A smoother and sweeter coffee needs fewer added extras such as thick cream, sweet sugar, and sticky syrups. Using less, or none, of these means a decrease in sugar, calories, and unhealthy fats. So for anyone watching their health, general diet, or calorie intake I would highly recommend jumping onto the cold brew coffee trends and switching up your morning coffee. Granted, it’s not as healthy as starting your day with a detoxing green tea or a pint of lemon water but it’s a start, baby steps right?
Cold brew coffee trends – are they here to stay?
Cold brew coffee trends have been taking the beverage industry by storm recently and the success looks set to continue. The majority of the big coffee shop chains now have cold brew options on their regular menu.
Meanwhile, other drink retailers are launching their own cold brew coffee trends, such as grab-and-go options, coffee machines commercial and cold brew home kits.
Personally, I prefer the taste and quality that comes from barista expertise when enjoying my cold brew coffee. Therefore I won’t be making my own and will continue to rely on the professionals when it comes to my cold brew coffee fix. However as more and more companies support working from home and remote working, and fewer individuals are grabbing a coffee during a morning commute, cold brew coffee at home could become very popular.
